Art
I'm particularly fond of fantasy art since it gives form to things that often are difficult for me to capture visually. I admire the minds, imaginations and skill of artists who produce such wonderful and horrible dreams.
I myself can't create visual art if my life depended on it but love enjoying the talents of others.
Some that have impressed me
- Yoshitaka Amano has captured me with his designs for the digital game Final Fantasy VII and the beautiful illustrations for Neil Gaiman's story Sandman: The Dream Hunters, among others. This gallery contains another selection of his works.
- Linda Bergkvist also has a gallery here.
- Daniel Broening
- Peter Callesen creates the most amazing visions by cutting paper. Really. See them.
- Daniel Dociu makes concept art for games.
- H.R. Giger has contributed to the world of movies with designs for Alien saga and Species.
- Anil Gupta inks it on skin.
- Dave McKean is a versatile artist with dumbfounding talent.
- Kelly Morgen has gorgeous pictures of her mythically inspired jewelry at Lost Star Jewelry.
- Morbid Tendencies showcases "beautiful objects for some".
- Niko Ran is what I call "a magical photographer". His touch makes reality ebb and flow.
- Outi Räty is a 3D artist with wonderful visions.
- Suza Scalora is another magical photographer. I was first enchanted by her Mythopoeia.
- Sana Takeda is Japanese and has done art for comics, video games etc.
- Nene Thomas has a contact to the Fae. What can I say, I'm a sucker for those wings.
- Valkyrie does magic on dolls. Amazing.
- Michael Zulli has produced some astonishing comic art (among other things) and every now and documents his painting process on his web page.
- Johanna Öst
More art
- Elfwood: galleries of various (amateur) fantasy artists
