Candles

I burn candles because their light is nicer than the electric one,
they are pretty, they help me concentrate and relax, they feel good,
they keep away winter depression, they can be used for scenting the room,
they are great for decorating the home.

I really love making my own candles. I prefer beeswax as the material.

Rolling up beeswax candles is very easy. All you need is sheet(s) of beeswax, a wick (both can be bought from an arts and crafts shop or from a honey producer, the latter being harder to find but their beeswax tends to be heaps cheaper than in an arts and crafts shop), and a hairdryer.

The sheet of beeswax is cut to the size you want your candle to be and it's warmed up with the hairdryer. the wick is placed on one edge of the sheet lengthwise and the sheet is rolled around it. There are several ways of cutting the sheet so that one can make straight, long, small, thich, spiral or whatever candles one can imagine. For pictures of making a simple candle see here. Beeswax can also be used for pouring candles or decorating the candle.
